Exceptional Care That Transforms.

Diagnostic Imaging

A diagnosis of cancer today comes with a strong possibility of recovery. Many of the latest tools and procedures to diagnose cancer in its early stages, when cancer is most curable, are here at Memorial Cancer Center.

State-of-the-Art Cancer Screenings at Memorial Diagnostic Imaging

Developing the best care plan begins with making a correct diagnosis. Memorial Diagnostic Imaging provides a complete range of specialized tests and diagnostic procedures.

Memorial Cancer Center offers state-of-the-art detection and treatment tools, as well as trained and experienced professionals to operate them. We are dedicated to keeping up with the newest advancements to ensure that you receive the latest and greatest care. Memorial offers a full range of diagnostic imaging services including 2D and 3D digital mammography and Digital PET/CT.

Memorial utilizes Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS), which allows images to be stored electronically. Reports from all Memorial imaging facilities are all handled efficiently at the main campus with radiologist oversight. Images go straight to computers to be reviewed, enabling the radiologist to read the scan sooner so the patient receives a diagnosis more quickly.

Wide Bore MRI

The Wide Bore accommodates patients of all sizes and is perfect for those who get anxious during an MRI. With an entire foot of spacious headroom, you’ll no longer feel like you’re nose to nose with the top of the magnet. Due to its short design, many exams can be done with your head outside the system. Wide Bore’s high power 1.5 Tesla delivers excellent images, so you can have a confident diagnosis while you rest easy inside.

Low Dose CT Lung Screening

Lung cancer screening is a process that’s used to detect the presence of lung cancer in otherwise healthy people with a high risk of lung cancer. Lung cancer screening is recommended for older adults who are longtime smokers and who don’t have any signs or symptoms of lung cancer.

Doctors use a low-dose computerized tomography (LDCT) scan of the lungs to look for lung cancer. If lung cancer is detected at an early stage, it’s more likely to be cured with treatment.

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends yearly lung cancer screening with LDCT for people who:

  • Have a 20 pack-year or more smoking history, and
  • Smoke now or have quit within the past 15 years, and
  • Are between 50 and 80 years old.
  • Are in relatively good health.

“A pack-year is smoking an average of one pack of cigarettes per day for one year. For example, a person could have a 20 pack-year history by smoking one pack a day for 20 years or two packs a day for 10 years.”

Low Dose CT Lung Screenings are performed at all Imaging locations that offer CT Scanning.

PET/CT Scan

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and anatomical information acquired from Computed Tomography (CT) result in an incredibly clear, non-invasive look inside your body.

Memorial Diagnostic Imaging invested in upgrading our fixed PET/CT system to fully Digital representing the latest and most accurate tool to identify cancer, heart disease and brain disorders.

PET/CT offers highly defined, 3-D images generated by two scanners that are fused into one unit. This whole-body imaging procedure can detect and monitor most cancers, including lung, colorectal, lymphoma, and breast. It is also used in the diagnosis of neurological disorders. We now offer advanced imaging for prostate (Pylarify) and Neuroendocrine tumors (Copper CU 64 Dotate).

Monarch Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy

A new innovation that holds promise to fight lung cancer is now in use at Memorial. Used to view the inside of the lungs and obtain a tissue sample for biopsy, the goal of Auris Health’s Monarch™ Platform is to enable earlier and more accurate diagnosis of small and hard-to-reach nodules in the periphery of the lung.
