New Employee Onboarding

Memorial's Professional Development staff is here to ensure that every new hire is fully equipped with the information they need to be successful on our team.

Onboarding Day is your official first day as a new hire at Memorial. During onboarding, we introduce Memorial policies, standards, and culture.

The experience includes an overview of Memorial’s systems and resources, including HealthStream Learning Center (HLC), which is the hospital’s learning management system.

Following Onboarding Day, new team members will complete an orientation specific to their role.

Before Onboarding Day

Consult your personal email account for a welcome message from HR containing all instructions, including your onboarding location and pre-requisite eLearning course requirements.

There is a curriculum of eLearning courses to be completed at home through HealthStream, our web-based learning management system. Instructions for access are included in the HR welcome email.

Bring copies of any resuscitation cards you may have.

Onboarding Day Instructions

Once You Arrive

Onboarding is held at the Memorial Administrative Support Services (MASS) building located at 1520 Broad Ave., Gulfport.

Use the map included in the welcome email from HR for parking information and instructions. When you check in at the ballroom, you will receive your onboarding folder and badge I.D.

You will be greeted by a member of administration then begin orientation to the organization and systems.

Continental breakfast and lunch are provided.

Clinical Orientation

Clinical staff, both nursing and allied health, receive an orientation that is customized based on their role. Training covers both Clinical instruction and an introduction to Cerner, our Electronic Health Record.

Front Office Training

Ambulatory front office training covers two days after onboarding. During this time, staff are introduced to Electronic Health Record scheduling for ambulatory settings (Physician Clinics). Staff then rotate to a selected clinic for a perceived experience.

Documentation Assistant Training

Following Front Office Training, Documentation Assistants complete additional Electronic Health Record (EHR) training specific to the role.
