Visiting Hours

Memorial recognizes that visitation of family and friends during a patient's hospitalization is key to a patient's recovery. We encourage you to visit your family member or friend during posted visiting hours. Below are the visiting hours of each Memorial facility as well as the latest visitor guidelines.

Memorial Hospital Gulfport

Due to our ongoing efforts to minimize the spread of infection and protect our patients and staff, Memorial’s visitation policy on all units is subject to change. We recommend you confirm the current visitation policy with your care team, call (228) 867-4000.

Current Visitation Policy

Effective July 11, 2022

Visitors are asked to continue to maintain social distancing in waiting rooms and public spaces and no one should be visiting who is COVID+.  Visitors exhibiting respiratory signs or symptoms may be asked to return home and visit again once their symptoms have subsided or they have tested negative.

GeneralTimesRestrictions
All entry and exit doors have once again returned to their normal hours of operation.  The front entrance remains open Monday – Friday from 7a.m. to 6p.m. and all other entrances will open and close based on their posted hours of operation. 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.For general patient rooms, COVID+ patient visitation continues to require wearing of isolation attire for the entire visit. There will no coming and going during the visit, and only 1 person may visit with a patient per day. All visitors to COVID+ patients must check with the nurse before entering the room.

Masks and appropriate PPE required during COVID visitation.

2 visitors at a time in the patient’s room, and visitors are not allowed to switch out. (For example: spouse and mother can visit from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., but father and brother must wait until 3 p.m. to visit.) Mask and appropriate PPE are required.

COVID+ PCU

Masks and appropriate PPE required during COVID visitation.
2 visitors allowed at each visiting period. No switching out allowed until next visiting period. (For example: spouse and mother can come 10-noon, but brother and father have to wait until 3-5 p.m. to visit because the allotted number of visitors for that period has been met). Masks and appropriate PPE required during COVID visitation.
EmergencyRestrictions
Emergency Care1 visitor will be allowed to stay with a patient during their time in the Emergency Department. Exceptions will be made based on patient-specific circumstances.
Surgery & ProceduresRestrictions
Patients coming for surgery or procedures will be allowed to have 2 visitors with them unless other arrangements are made with the department on an individual basis.

Minors may have both legal guardians.
Women’s HealthVisiting PeriodsRestrictions
Labor & Delivery2 visitors at a time while in Labor & Delivery, no switching out while the mother is in labor. No children under the age of 12, including other children of the patient unless specific considerations have been made. All children must always be accompanied by an adult other than the patient. If the patient is COVID+, there will be only 1 person allowed with the patient and they must stay in the room with the patient (no switching out or leaving and returning).
Mother Baby1011 a.m.
5 6:30p.m.
One support person may stay with the patient 24/7. Hours for other visitation on Mother Baby will be daily from 10-11 a.m. and from 5-6:30 p.m. Siblings may visit with mom and baby during these designated times, including those under 12.

If the patient is COVID+, there will be only 1 person allowed with the patient and they must stay in the room with the patient (no switching out or leaving and returning).
PediatricsRestrictions
The Pediatric unit will follow the general hospital visitation policies.  The only difference being that children on the pediatric unit will be allowed to have 2 visitors stay overnight.
EncompassVisiting PeriodsRestrictions
2 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Monday – Friday

10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday
Currently Encompass patients can have two visitors per day.
SelectRestrictions
Currently Select patients may have one visitor per day.

Memorial will not screen anyone entering the building, so visitors will proceed to Select.
  • Pet therapy will be allowed to resume.
  • Clergy may return to seeing patients in the hospital.
  • Vendors/reps/etc. will be allowed back to normal business.
  • Public classes will be resuming.

Current Visitation Policy

Effective October 13, 2021

Masks are required in all our facilities. We are limiting visitors to allow for social distancing and encourage visitation in small groups or shifts. When you arrive to your destination that area may limit the number based on room size or available waiting space. This is for the safety of the patients, visitors, and staff. COVID-19 patients will be allow visitors on an individualized basis, this will be coordinated with the patient, family and nursing unit. 

Children are welcome to visit family members following the same guidance but under the age of 16 must be escorted by an adult at all times.

As with everything we do, individualized consideration will be given to all our patients and guests and extenuating circumstances will be handled on an individual basis.
