Memorial Health System has achieved a B rating from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade as part of the Fall 2024 Hospital Safety Grades. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, assigned twice each year, evaluates nearly 3,000 hospitals across the United States.
Each hospital is graded based on a comprehensive methodology that uses up to 30 performance measures derived from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, and additional data sources. These measures fall into two key categories: Process/Structural Measures, which assess the care environment and adherence to best practices, and Outcome Measures, which evaluate patient results and safety outcomes. With 50% of the overall grade attributed to each of these domains, Leapfrog ensures a holistic view of a hospital’s safety record.
Memorial Hospital Gulfport has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus quality achievement award for its commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and reduced disability.
Memorial Hospital Gulfport also received the American Heart Association’s Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll award. To qualify for this recognition, hospitals must meet specific criteria that reduce the time between an eligible patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment with thrombolytic therapy.
In addition, Memorial Hospital Gulfport received the American Heart Association’s Target: Type 2 Diabetes™ Honor Roll award. Target: Type 2 Diabetes aims to ensure patients with Type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to stroke.
Memorial Hospital Stone County has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Silver Plus quality achievement award for its commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and reduced disability.
Additionally, Memorial Hospital Stone County has received the Get With The Guidelines® – Rural Stroke Silver award, which recognizes efforts to address the unique health needs of rural communities. People who live in rural communities live an average of three years fewer than urban counterparts and have a 40% higher likelihood of developing heart disease and face a 30% increased risk for stroke mortality — a gap that has grown over the past two decades. Memorial Hospital Stone County is committed to changing that.
Memorial Hospital is accredited (given a stamp of approval) every 18-39 months through an unannounced survey or inspection process conducted by the Joint Commission.
Based on the results of data collected during the on-site assessment survey, and completion of a Corrective Action Project it has been determined that Memorial has implemented the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding and is compliant with the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes.
Achievement of the Baby-Friendly Designation is not an easy task. The U.S. Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria are based on the Global Criteria for the WHO/UNICEF Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI). These Criteria are designed to set the standards for the best possible breastfeeding support for mother and infant in the maternity setting.

Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) Memorial Hospital proudly announces it has achieved accreditation through Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) for pharmacy services.
Accreditation is a process through which healthcare organizations demonstrate compliance with national standards. Accreditation by ACHC reflects an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care.
ACHC is a nonprofit organization that has stood as a symbol of quality and excellence since 1986. ACHC is ISO 9001:2015 certified and has CMS deeming authority for Home Health, Hospice and DMEPOS.
Diagnostic Imaging Services has been accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for many years for Digital Mammography and Stereotactic Breast Biopsy. Memorial has also achieved Gold Standard Accreditation for both Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT).
The American College of Radiology (ACR) has accredited Memorial as a safe and effective facility. For more than three quarters of a century, ACR has thoroughly reviewed and assessed healthcare centers, personnel, and equipment to ensure a low risk of radiation and to prevent overtreatment.
The College of American Pathologists is a member-based physician organization founded in 1946 comprising approximately 18,000 board-certified pathologists. It serves patients, pathologists, and the public by fostering and advocating best practices in pathology and laboratory medicine.
CAP accreditation inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, as well as the laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program and record, in addition to the overall management of the laboratory. This stringent inspection program is designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients.
Memorial Hospital Gulfport has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award for 2024. Memorial Hospital Gulfport is one of only 80 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor.
The award recognizes Memorial Hospital Gulfport’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that Memorial Hospital Gulfport has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.
