For Immediate Release June 25, 2008

Local high school students completed the seventh Summer Health Camp sponsored by Memorial Hospital. The free two-week camp provides orientation to healthcare careers. Camp Counselors were Memorial School Clinic Nurses Cecil Creel, Liz Richard, and Scott Berry.

The campers experienced different areas of healthcare, attended lectures and toured clinical units, which included Laboratory, Oncology, Intensive Care, Emergency Department, Nursery and Diagnostic Imaging. In addition, the students completed handson CPR training, first-aid training, and observed a surgery in the Memorial Outpatient Surgery Center.

The Summer Health Camp is coordinated through the Human Resources Department at Memorial to encourage interest in all aspects of healthcare careers.
