Memorial’s New Diagnostic Imaging Suite Now Open

For Immediate Release April 2, 2009

GULFPORT, Miss.—Memorial’s new Diagnostic Imaging Suite, located on the first floor of the Memorial Medical Office Building, Suite 150, features advanced diagnostic imaging services including: PET/CT, CT Scans, a radiology room (X-ray), ultrasound, and a C-Arm.

Since January 2002, Memorial has been performing Positron Emission Tomography (PET) utilizing a mobile unit. The mobile PET/CT unit limited the scheduling of patients to certain days a week. Memorial now offers patients the only fixed PET/CT unit on the Coast. This in-house unit allows appointments to be scheduled five days a week.

The PET/CT, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) plus anatomical information acquired from Computed Tomography (CT), equals an incredibly clear, totally non-invasive look at what is going on inside your body. PET/CT offers highly defined, 3-D images generated by two scanners fused into one. PET/CT is a whole-body imaging procedure used to detect and monitor most cancers, including lung, colorectal, lymphoma and breast.

The Memorial Medical Office Building, which currently provides office space for numerous medical specialties, is located at 1340 Broad Avenue, Gulfport.
