Memorial Inpatient Rehabilitation Program Awarded Accreditation

For Immediate Release September 8, 2008

GULFPORT, Miss. – The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) has accredited Memorial Inpatient Rehabilitation Program for treatment of Adults, Children and Adolescents.

This three-year accreditation, which extends through June 2011, represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization.

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit went through a rigorous peer review process and demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable.

CARF surveyors made no recommendations, which signifies they did not identify any areas of nonconformance to the standards. Only 3 percent of CARF surveys internationally have resulted in no recommendations.

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Program has also been accredited as a Stroke Specialty Program.

CARF is an independent nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of others. Founded in 1966, CARF establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs.
