Memorial Elects Medical Staff Officers

Memorial Medical Staff Officers were elected in September and began their terms on October 1, 2008. They will serve through 2010.

Donn E. Bowers, M.D. was elected Chief of Staff. Dr. Bowers was appointed to the Medical Staff of Memorial Hospital in June 2000. He is the Medical Director of the Wound Care Department at Memorial Hospital. Dr. Bowers is a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He has held many Medical Staff Leadership positions that include Department Chair of Internal Medicine, Secretary-Treasurer and the Vice- Chief of Staff of the Medical Staff.

Thad Carter, M.D. was elected Vice-Chief of Staff. Dr. Carter is a Board Certified Urologist who was appointed to the Medical Staff of Memorial Hospital in September of 1980. He is a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his Internship and Residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. He has been practicing in Gulfport for over 28 years.

David Northington, D.O. was elected Secretary-Treasurer. Dr. Northington was appointed to the Medical Staff in October of 2003. He is the Medical Director of the Hospitalist Program at Memorial Hospital. He is a graduate of the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Northington completed his Internship and Residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio.
