Low-dose computed tomography (CT) lung screening has been proven to save lives. Memorial was first in our community to offer high risk patients this advanced, quick, painless way to help physicians find lung cancer before symptoms appear. Low-dose CT screening eligibility guidelines have been expanded.

Now, many more current smokers, former smokers as young as 50, and those who smoked less over their lifetimes have become eligible.

Robotic Assisted Bronchoscopy

Always at the cutting edge of treatment options for all conditions and diseases, Memorial Hospital now utilizes the innovation of the Auris Health Monarch™ Platform in the fight against lung cancer.

We are also one of the first hospitals in the United States to do so. This platform can view the insides of the lungs and obtain tissue samples for biopsies. In the process, it enables our physicians to make an earlier, more accurate diagnosis of small, hard-to-reach nodules in the lungs.

The Monarch Platform integrates advancements in computer assistance, robotics, software, 3-D modeling, data science and endoscopy. Endoscopy involves small cameras and tools that can enter the body through natural openings. This results in improved reach, vision and control for the physician.

Because it is vitally important in survival rates that lung cancer is detected early rather than in its advanced stage, Memorial Hospital is excited to be able to offer this care option to our patients. It overcomes the limitations in accuracy, safety and high invasiveness that are inherent in other treatment options and that can lead to increased health care costs and extended hospital stays.
