Her Story, Our Promise: Dr. Sidra Khalid and the Women Shaping Healthcare

Women’s History Month is a time to honor the incredible women who have made significant contributions to various fields, including healthcare. Dr. Sidra Khalid, an esteemed oncologist at Memorial, exemplifies dedication, compassion, and innovation in her role, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of her patients and colleagues alike.

Her nominator wrote, “Dr. Khalid is an inspiration to our patients. She is very understanding of every patient and their situation, and she strives to have a positive impact. She is a prime example of Memorial’s mission. She is up to date on new research for cancer care and is constantly learning new things, teaching the rest of us new, transformative care for the patients.”

A journey of dedication

Dr. Khalid has been part of the Memorial team for three years. She shares, “Each day, I see patients both in the clinic and the hospital as well as the chemotherapy infusion area. Communication is key to helping resolve issues during the day, and I am blessed with excellent clinical staff and colleagues who help to manage patient concerns in a very critical setting both in the clinic and the hospital. Our active oncology patients on treatment require extra monitoring, and the whole team helps to manage patients effectively.”

Dr. Khalid reflects on the struggles and triumphs of women who paved the way before her, and she strives to uphold their legacy of perseverance and empowerment.

Drawing inspiration from others

Throughout her educational and professional journey, Dr. Khalid has been inspired by numerous female role models, both in leadership positions and within her circle. She reflects. “All of the women in my personal and professional life have helped to support my growth as a well-rounded person. They inspire me to impact the world positively. Through my mentors in oncology, I am inspired to provide cancer care to patients, continue research, and try to help patients navigate their cancer journey.”

When asked what she wishes more people knew about women in the workplace, Dr. Khalid shares, “I believe women are continuing to uplift each other in the workplace environment. They support each other and provide feedback through which change occurs.”

Dr. Khalid represents the countless women who continue to shape the landscape of healthcare with their dedication and passion. This Women’s History Month, Memorial celebrates her and all the remarkable women who contribute to building healthier, more compassionate communities.
