Memorial Rapid Response Team Promotes Patient Safety

GULFPORT, Miss.—The Memorial Rapid Response Team is a patient safety initiative that began at Memorial in June 2005. The Rapid Response Team empowers the bedside nurse to call for assistance and intervention to address the needs of the patient in the case of an urgent medical concern. The team stabilizes the patient, communicates with the patient’s physician and assists with transporting the patient to a higher level of care. The goal of the Rapid Response Team is to reduce the number of cardiopulmonary arrests. The team has responded to more than 800 calls since inception.
Recently the Rapid Response Team implemented the patient and family member activation.”
