Birthplace Classes

Classes offered at Memorial Birthplace

All classes, except Infant CPR, are free to attend. Register by calling us at (228) 575-2299 or by emailing the class coordinator, Pam Bowen.

Prepared Childbirth Class

Prepared Childbirth covers relaxation techniques, signs and stages of labor, pain relief, and anesthesia. Also covered are c-sections, VBACs, and basic infant care. You’ll also take a tour of the Labor & Delivery area.

Breastfeeding Class

Breastfeeding Class covers the the techniques and benefits of breastfeeding your baby. Memorial Birthplace also offers additional breastfeeding consultation and support.

Parenting Class

Parenting Class teaches the basic skills necessary to make your baby’s first year easier. Topics include newborn care, safety issues, and choosing responsible daycare. Parenting Class is offered on a quarterly basis.

Infant CPR Class

Infant CPR class is a comprehensive, two-hour, non-certification class that covers CPR and choking. The class is offered monthly and costs $35 per couple. Classes are scheduled based on due date and are available to people planning to deliver at Memorial on a first come, first serve basis. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required.
