Exceptional Care That Transforms.

Memorial Staff Recognition

Memorial’s Vision is to be the driving force that improves the health of our patients throughout their lifetime. We cannot accomplish this without each team member showing up to work each day to make a difference in the lives of our patients, their families and our community. Recognizing members of the Memorial Family is a small way to show appreciation.

There are two ways employees can be recognized by their peers, patients, or visitors:

STELLAR – Small gesture which serves as a “thank you” and acknowledgment of one’s hard work. The recipient will receive a sweet treat on your behalf.

DAISY – Nurses may be nominated by patients or their families who want to express their gratitude and recognize them for the extraordinary skillful, and compassionate care they gave.

Our Promise Stellar Award

Any Memorial employee, clinical or non-clinical, from any department.

Any Memorial staff member, visitor, or patient.

If the person you are recommending exhibited one or more of Memorial’s values, standards, or attributes of our Mission.

This award is a small way we can recognize the hard work of our colleagues by:

•Note of gratitude to sent to the recipient inner office mail

•Small bag of goodies

•Recipient’s name and submission comments will be displayed on Memorial’s intranet for all to see

•The recipient’s supervisor will receive notice that the team member received Stellar recognition

Nominations can be made here, or by requesting a paper form while onsite at the hospital. Memorial employees can nominate other employees using a form on Memorial’s intranet.

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses ® is an international program established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by members of his family. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.

Nurses may be nominated by patients or their families who want to express their gratitude and to recognize them for the extraordinary skillful, and compassionate care they gave. Award recipients receive an “Extraordinary Nurse” certificate, “A Healer’s Touch” sculpture, and a DAISY Award pin.

Current Honorees

May Daisy Award Honorees – Katlyn Atchley, RN & Nicole Greishceimer, RN

“I cannot express my gratitude for Memorial Hospital and the ICU unit during the most horrible time of my life. The whole unit along with doctors was more than I ever expected, and I would like to thank them and Memorial Hospital. I realize perhaps only one nurse can win the DAISY Award, but I would like to tell you about 2 nurses. The first nurse I met when my mother was there for a brain bleed, and she was unconscious and on a ventilator. We were told would not make it. She explained what she could, and we were all in shock. I asked many questions, and she answered them and gently turned my mom, taking ever so much care to be gentle and kind. She asked if she could get me anything, so kind and caring, always at our side to help. She gave our family generous time to say goodbyes and she was patient and held our hands. She knew how to address our concerns, how to take care of my mom, cleaning her, giving her meds, and let us know mom was gone in the most beautiful way, she was amazing! We were overcome with grief and on the verge of a breakdown and had it not been for this nurse and the doctor, I would have not been able to manage what was a very difficult situation.

The second nurse would come in and comb my mom’s hair, wash her face, so carefully. She answered questions as we continued asking. The first night she talked to my stepfather in length, as he would not sleep. So, not only did she take care of my mom, but also my stepfather. She even comforted mom by applying ointment to her lips that were getting dry. In the most horrible time of our life, I am thankful for both nurses. They are two humble, beautiful nurses taking the best care of my mom and us in the most difficult time. I will forever remember and be thankful for the blessing of her tending to our mom and family. She went to great lengths to provide our mom with the dignity she deserved, by keeping her appearance so that her family wouldn’t be shocked by seeing her any other way.”

Thank you, Katlyn & Nicole, for the exceptional care you provide our community!
