August 2026 DAISY Award Honoree – Shayna Woodcock, RN, Memorial Hospital Gulfport ICU
“I would like to nominate Nurse Shayna Woodcock from the ICU at Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion she showed my husband, Larry, during his ICU stay in May 2026.
Larry was facing a very critical medical situation, and our family was overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty. From the moment Shayna came into our room, she brought a sense of calm that we desperately needed. She had an incredible ability to ease Larry’s anxiety while also reassuring me during one of the most difficult times of our lives.
Shayna was consistently attentive, compassionate, and professional. No matter how busy the ICU was, she never made us feel rushed. She patiently answered every question we had, explained Larry’s treatment in a way we could understand, and made sure we always knew what was happening. Her kindness and confidence helped Larry feel safe and gave our family hope when we needed it most.
What sets Shayna apart is not only her outstanding nursing skills but also her genuine compassion. She treated Larry with dignity, respect, and heartfelt kindness, and she cared for our entire family, not just her patient. Her calming presence, encouraging words, and unwavering dedication made an unforgettable difference in our experience.
We will never forget the comfort and exceptional care Shayna provided during one of the most frightening chapters of our lives. She truly embodies the very best of nursing, and we are forever grateful for her dedication, professionalism, and extraordinary compassion. She is an invaluable asset to Memorial Hospital and is most deserving of this recognition.”
