May 2026 Daisy Award Honoree – Angela Marie D. Alovera, RN, NICU

“I would like to nominate this nurse for a Daisy award in recognition of the exceptional care, compassion, and support she provided during my son’s day in the NICU.
When my baby was admitted to NICU for several weeks, it was one of the most overwhelming and emotional times in my life as this was our first baby that needed to stay in the NICU. For most of his day, Angela was his night nurse, and from the very first sight I met her, she brought a sense of warmth that immediately put me at ease. She introduced herself with such kindness and confidence that I knew that my son was in good hands.
Angela consistently cared for my son with utmost gentleness and attention she always took time to explain everything she was doing, making sure both my husband and I understood his care and progress. She kept us informed with regular updates and worked with us to set goals for each night, helping us feel involved and hopeful. No matter how small the milestone, Angela celebrated every one of my son’s victories with us, which meant more than words can express.
What truly set her apart was the compassion she showed not just to her patients, but to their families as well. Even on nights when she was not assigned to my son, she would come by to check on us. She made it clear that she and you only cared about our well-being.
One night I was sitting beside my baby feeling overwhelmed and emotional, Angela came in to check on him and noticed that I was crying. Without hesitation, she approached me with a reassuring smile, held my hand, and prayed for me and my baby. Afterward, she sat with me for a while, simply taking an offering comfort. In that moment, when the NICU felt especially lonely and heavy, her presence brought me a peace and strength. It was exactly what I needed.
Angela made sure to check on me personally reminding me to take care of myself and not push myself too hard during such a difficult time. Her kindness and attentiveness went far beyond her duties.
I will forever be grateful for the care she provided and the impact she had on her family. She is truly deserving of this recognition.”
Thank you, Angela, for the exceptional care you provide our community!
