Memorial Health System Announces Chief Medical Officer
Gulfport, Mississippi — August 15, 2023 — Memorial Health System today announced Shawn Dufford, M.D., has joined the Memorial team as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Dufford will work with health system leadership to oversee quality, safety, patient experience, medical staff services, medical directors, and hospital-based physician services. He will also serve as a liaison to Memorial medical staff.
Dr. Dufford joins Memorial with extensive experience in hospital and medical staff operations. His most recent role was Senior Vice President and System Chief Medical Officer with SCL Health, overseeing eight hospitals in Colorado, Kansas, and Montana.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Colorado, and a medical doctorate from Ross University before completing a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Colorado. He received his master’s degree in business at the University of Denver and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in data science and analytics.
