Exceptional Care That Transforms.

Power Restored to Memorial Hospital, Patients Remain Safe

For Immediate Release March 28, 2013

GULFPORT — A contractor working at Memorial Hospital cut the main power line to the facility, resulting in a power outage on Thursday, March 28, at approximately 7:58 a.m. At that time, a main circuit breaker was damaged, which delayed the activation of the hospital’s standby generator power. By 9:10 a.m., emergency power was restored throughout the hospital.

All precautions were taken to protect our patients and to continue patient care. First responders and area hospitals were cooperating within minutes. Although no patients required transportation outside the hospital, other area medical facilities were on standby to receive patients if necessary.

Surgeries and procedures are in the process of being rescheduled. Outpatient diagnostic tests are being re-routed to our outlying clinics.

We will continue to monitor the stability of our main power supply. We expect to complete all repairs and restore to main power today.
