Memorial Hospital Team Wins First Annual Breast Cancer Crusaders Silver Cup Hospital Challenge

Tennis players representing Memorial Hospital claimed victory in the First Annual Breast Cancer Crusaders Silver Cup Hospital Challenge on October 3.

Memorial employees, medical staff and Memorial Hospital Foundation board members made up the team and earned hard-fought victories over the Singing River Hospital System team in 7 of 8 matches. In addition to the Silver Cup trophy, the Memorial Hospital Foundation will receive $1,000 to support breast cancer patients at Memorial.

The team representing Memorial included: Dave Estorge (team captain), Jan Estrada, Dr. Don Gaddy, Maryann Gast, Jennifer Knight, Arthur Lestrade, Darlene Martin, Ximena McCarthy, Tan Nguyen, Chris Donohue Reeves, Chevis Swetman, Rodger Wilder.

The Hospital Challenge was held in conjunction with the Tenth Annual Pink Ribbon Classic tennis tournament October 1 – 3 in Ocean Springs. During the tournament, which is organized by the Breast Cancer Crusaders and sanctioned by the National Tennis Rating Program, U.S. Tennis Association members compete and raise funds for local initiatives to fight breast cancer.
