Memorial Hospital Offers Two New Support Groups

For Immediate Release May 7, 2012

The Limb Loss and Amputee Support Group will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Classroom 13, Memorial Hospital South Building.

Monthly support meetings will be held the second Tuesday of each month from 4 to 6 p.m. in Classroom 13, Memorial Hospital South Building. The group offers networking and socializing while accessing resources and receiving professional support. A variety of topics will be addressed, including: health, skin protection, prosthetic care, leisure/recreation resources, and depression. Health care providers, prosthetics providers, dietitians, psychologists, physicians, and other community professionals will also be available to speak with the group. Registration is not necessary.

The Sleeping Giant, a lymphedema support group, will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Classroom 6, Memorial Hospital South Building. Monthly support meetings will be held the third Tuesday of each month from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Classroom 6, Memorial South Building. The support group offers an open and friendly forum for patients, friends, and family members to discuss ideas, give hope, provide support, and share information with others. Speakers are also invited to present Lymphedema related topics, literature, and updates.
