March 30, 2009

WHAT: An Open House celebrating the opening of the new Diagnostic Imaging Suite, located on the first floor of the Memorial Medical Office Building, Suite 150.

WHEN: Thursday, April 2 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

WHERE: Memorial Medical Office Building, 1340 Broad Avenue, Suite 150, Gulfport.

BACKGROUND: The new Diagnostic Imaging Suite features advanced diagnostic imaging services including: PET/CT, CT Scans, a radiology room (X-ray), ultrasound, and a C-Arm.

Since January 2002, Memorial has been performing Position Emission Tomography (PET) utilizing a mobile unit. The mobile unit limited the scheduling of patients to certain days a week. Memorial now offers the only fixed PET/CT unit on the Gulf Coast.

This in-house unit allows appointments to be scheduled five days a week. Position Emission Tomography (PET) plus anatomical information acquired from Computed Tomography (CT), equals an incredibly clear, totally non-invasive look at what is going on inside your body. It offers highly defined, 3-D images generated by two scanners fused into one. PET/CT is a whole body imaging procedure used to detect and monitor most cancers, including lung, colorectal, lymphoma and breast.
