March of Dimes / Allstate Donate to Memorial NICU

GULFPORT, Miss.—The Mississippi Chapter of the March of Dimes received a $10,000 grant from Allstate for NICU Family Support. The Memorial Neonatal ICU (NICU) was selected as one of the sites in the state to receive informational packages for NICU families. The package included a baby journal, parent booklet for NICU families, Share Your Story brochure, and a March of Dimes bracelet. The NICU also received nine Preemie reference books for the family waiting area.

In addition, the NICU nursing staff will receive three nursing modules that provide continuing education credits to NICU nursing staff:

• The Premature Infant – Nursing Assessment & Management (6.4 contact hours)

• Preterm Infants – Transition to Home and Follow -Up (5.3 contact hours)

• Breastfeeding and the Infant with Special Needs (4.3 contact hours)
