American Diabetes Association Recognizes Diabetes Program at Memorial Hospital

GULFPORT, Miss. — The American Diabetes Association has awarded Education Recognition to the Memorial Diabetes Self-Management Program from Dec. 1, 2013 through Dec. 1, 2017. Facilitated by Diabetes Care Coordinator Pamela D. Davis, RN, the Memorial Diabetes Care program has been in existence since 1990. It was originally awarded Education Recognition in 2003 and continues to offer quality diabetes education to the Coast community. The American Diabetes Association Education Recognition program has grown to become a leading quality assurance mechanism for diabetes self-management education programs across the country. Programs that receive Educational Recognition status have a staff of knowledgeable health professionals who can provide state-of-the art education about diabetes self-management for participants. Self-management education is an essential component of diabetes treatment. The Diabetes Care Program at Memorial Hospital is available by physician referral for anyone with diabetes.
