Pediatrics/Child Health
Pediatric Services for the Mississippi Gulf Coast
While we are committed to treating the whole patient, we also care for the whole family. Staffed by expert providers, our pediatric clinics are here for your family on the healthy – and not so healthy – days. We are proud to provide comprehensive pediatric care at multiple, convenient locations.
Inpatient Services
The Board Certified pediatric services hospitalists and in-house physicians at Memorial are staffed by Children’s of Mississippi, the umbrella organization that includes Batson Children’s Hospital and all UMMC pediatric care.
Hospitalists are in-house physicians who focus exclusively on hospitalized patients. Once a patient is discharged from the hospital, the patient will once again receive care from their referring or primary care physician.
Our pediatric unit consists of private rooms dedicated to the care of your child. Nurses work closely with the pediatrician or family physician.
The partnership between Memorial and UMMC provides for more convenient access to specialty care for our youngest residents.
Children’s Health
At Memorial, we bring the same extraordinary level of care that we give adults to our smallest patients. When a child is sick or injured, it’s not enough for a hospital to have the most qualified doctors and advanced technologies, you need to have access to a team that works together seamlessly to bring health and wellness as quickly as possible. This is why we are partners with Children’s of Mississippi to create a strong network of care across Mississippi.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
At Memorial Hospital, we are prepared for the unexpected when you’re expecting. The Birthplace is dedicated to creating a comfortable, joyous experience, but should the need arise, the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on the Mississippi Coast is available at Memorial for sick infants and newborns.
The Children’s of Mississippi Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) cares for sick infants and newborns in Gulfport and surrounding communities. The only unit on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the Memorial NICU is staffed by board-certified neonatologists. We have access to subspecialty care through Children’s of Mississippi’s extensive network so we can help give premature babies and babies with other diseases the special care they need. Located on the seventh floor of Memorial Hospital, the NICU was recently updated and features 23 beds in 11 semi-private rooms. One parent may stay with the infant in our comfortable rooms.
