Her Story, Our Promise: Jeanette Taylor and the Women Shaping Healthcare
As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we’re highlighting the remarkable contributions of women in our health system who exemplify Memorial’s mission to heal, inspire, and transform the health of our community. Jeanette Taylor, Manager of Coding at Memorial, is committed to problem-solving and supporting her team members and community.
She was nominated for this spotlight by a colleague, who wrote, “Jeanette is a marvelous, encouraging individual by nature. Having a manager who encourages more than she criticizes is cathartic. It ensures that the health and betterment of our staff is important. As we all know, stress in a working environment is by nature going to occur, but she ensures that we do not stress daily over things outside of our control. Jeanette never ceases to amaze me with her tenacity and her ability to see the good in people. She is knowledgeable yet humble. She is an inspiration to me personally and to those she encounters, even on her worst days. She is most deserving of recognition even in a role outside of direct patient care.”
“My gratitude is deep”
As the Manager of our Coding Department, Jeanette is responsible for a wide array of responsibilities. She shares, “Each day is a new challenge, a new opportunity to learn and share that knowledge with others. I work with a tremendous group of people who know what is expected of them and take great pride in their work. Even though my job can be somewhat chaotic at times, I do love what I do and the people who help me each day.”
When asked about women who joined the workforce before her, Jeanette has immense gratitude. “I’m not the first and won’t be the last, but to those who have paved the way for my success, my gratitude is deep.”
Inspired by others
“Every person in the workforce has met someone who has inspired them, someone who has pushed them to do/be better,” Jeanette continues. “For me, that person challenged me to dig deeper, search harder and ignore those who said, “she can’t”. She inspired me through her compassion, kindness, and her ability to build someone up even when she had to have a hard conversation.”
Never stop learning
Jeanette knows that women are problem solvers and willing to dig in to find the solution to a problem. She shares, “As a professional, you should inspire others, lead by example, educate those around you, and never stop learning along the way.”
