Memorial Celebrates 80 Years of Care

Eighty years is more than a milestone. It’s a testament to the generations of caregivers, patients, families, volunteers, and community partners who have shaped Memorial Health System’s story since 1946.
On July 23, Memorial proudly celebrated its 80th Anniversary with a day dedicated to honoring our past, celebrating our present, and looking toward our future.
The celebration began with employee appreciation activities across the health system, including snowballs, loaded teas, and fresh watermelon, recognizing the dedication and service of the more than 6,200 employees who make Memorial exceptional every day.
As the afternoon unfolded, guests gathered to commemorate this historic occasion through the unveiling of Memorial’s 80th Anniversary Time Capsule, the first raising of our commemorative anniversary flag, and recognition from the City of Gulfport through an official resolution honoring Memorial’s eight decades of service to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The celebration continued into the evening as employees, volunteers, community leaders, elected officials, and community partners came together to enjoy live music, fellowship, and reflection on the incredible journey that has brought Memorial from a single community hospital to one of Mississippi’s leading health systems.
We are deeply grateful to our employees, volunteers, patients, community partners, the City of Gulfport, the Harrison County Board of Supervisors, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce for helping us celebrate this extraordinary milestone. Your trust, partnership, and support have been instrumental in Memorial’s success.
As we celebrate 80 years of caring for the Coast, we remain committed to advancing healthcare, serving our communities, and building a healthier future for generations to come.
