Memorial Health System Announces Melissa McCollum as Vice President of Human Resources
GULFPORT, Miss. – October 24, 2024 – Melissa McCollum, MA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, has been named Vice President of Human Resources at Memorial Health System. With over 20 years of human resources experience and leadership in the healthcare industry, McCollum brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success to her new role.
McCollum joins Memorial Health System after serving as Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Steward Health Care in Dallas, Texas, where she partnered with corporate, market, and hospital leadership to develop and implement strategic HR solutions, drive compensation initiatives, and oversee system-wide HR operations across 41 hospitals and associated clinics throughout multiple states. Her leadership supported improvements to HR services and contributed to company goals. She also managed complex HR responsibilities related to acquisitions, divestitures, and corporate restructuring.
McCollum holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master of Arts from the University of Memphis. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated expertise in areas including strategic HR management, employee relations, compliance, and compensation analysis. Prior to her role at Steward Health Care, McCollum held several leadership positions at IASIS Healthcare in Franklin, Tennessee, where she successfully implemented HR initiatives that resulted in significant operational savings and improved staff engagement.
