Her Story, Our Promise: Angela Ybos, RN, and the Women Shaping Healthcare
Women’s History Month is a time to honor the incredible women who have made significant contributions to various fields, including healthcare. Angela Ybos, a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN), embodies the spirit of women who tirelessly work to ensure the well-being of others. Nominated for her exceptional dedication and leadership in the intensive care unit, Angela exemplifies the qualities of compassion, resilience, and innovation that are essential in healthcare settings.
Her nominator wrote, “Angela is advocating for her patients in times of need. She keeps the even flow of the intensive care unit going and helps boost morale in her team when on shift. Everyone needs a person on their team like her because what is good for the team and essentially good for the patients is to have positive, willing-to-work team members to give quality care.”
Commitment to quality care
Angela’s role in critical care demands a meticulous approach to planning and execution. She shares, “We have a team of people that contribute to our positive outcomes. This role demands not only clinical expertise but also strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to upholding ethical principles.”
Reflecting on the women who came before her, Angela acknowledges the privilege of being trained by remarkable female leaders. “My work ethic has grown into a leadership role that is very rewarding thanks to the women who came before me,” she says. “I reflect on their standard of care and quality, and I try my hardest to introduce that to the new nurses so they can pass that knowledge on to the next generation.”
Finding inspiration in others
Angela draws inspiration from various sources, notably her parents. “When I think about the individuals who have inspired me along my journey, my parents are the first to come to mind. My father’s discipline, strong work ethic, and sense of accountability have been a constant source of inspiration. Likewise, my mother’s encouragement to uphold integrity, embrace good morals and values, and cultivate self-awareness have profoundly influenced me,” she reflects.
Upon entering the workforce, she encountered managers and directors who also inspired her. One such person was Kathy Ladner, a dedicated director who consistently made time for her and others. Angela shares, “Whether addressing work-related challenges or offering personal advice, Kathy always left me feeling motivated to strive for excellence.”
Angela highlights the unique perspectives, innovative thinking, and collaborative abilities that women bring to the workplace. As natural multitaskers and problem solvers, women play a vital role in driving positive outcomes and fostering inclusive environments where everyone can thrive.
Angela represents the countless women who continue to shape the landscape of healthcare with their dedication and passion. This Women’s History Month, Memorial celebrates Angela and all the remarkable women who contribute to building healthier, more compassionate communities.
