Memorial Health System Receives Top Awards

GULFPORT, Miss. – December 20, 2022 – This was a banner year for Memorial Health System. Memorial Hospital was recognized as a 2022-2023 Best Hospital in Mississippi by U.S. News & World Report, ranking first in Coastal Mississippi and number 3 in the State of Mississippi. Memorial rated as High Performing in eight procedures/conditions, including Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Diabetes, Colon Cancer Surgery, Kidney Failure, Back Surgery (Spinal Fusion), Stroke, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Memorial Health System was also voted the Best Place to Work on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and Memorial Hospital Gulfport was voted the Best Hospital by WXXV viewers in the recent Viewer’s Choice Awards.

In addition, Memorial Health System Marketing and Communications Department received top awards in advertising, public relations, and communication. The team received these awards from American Advertising Federation Mississippi Gulf Coast, Public Relations Association of Mississippi, Southern Public Relations Federation, and Mississippi Hospital Association.

Memorial received the William A. Taylor Best of Show in the Southern Public Relations Federation 2022 Lantern Awards for its breast cancer campaign, Prevention Takes Action. In addition, Memorial was awarded: Lantern Award for Prevention Takes Action, Best of Tier for Prevention Takes Action, and Award of Excellence for Faces Behind the Mask.

During the Public Relations Association of Mississippi 2022 PRism Awards, Memorial brought home the state’s top award, receiving Best of Show for Faces Behind the Mask, a documentation of healthcare heroes one year after the first patient was admitted with COVID-19. In addition, Memorial was awarded: PRism Award for Faces Behind the Mask, Best of Tier Award for Faces Behind the Mask, Award of Excellence for Don’t Hesitate, Vaccinate integrated communications campaign, Award of Excellence for Prevention Takes Action, and Award of Excellence for Memorial’s 75th Anniversary internal communications campaign.

Memorial also received four Maggie Awards from the Mississippi Hospital Association for Advertising Campaign – Better Care for Stone County, Special Events – Memorial Celebrates 75 Years of Healing, Website – WeAreMemorial.com, Magazine Advertising – Exceptional Care Ad Series.
