Stone County Nursing Employee of the Month, August 2019
Teresa Phillips, LMSW
Teresa Phillips is a dedicated and compassionate social worker with more than 30 years of experience in the field. She has worked with children, families, individual special needs and the elderly. Teresa has generously donated her special gifts by volunteering with numerous groups such as the Special Olympics and Toys for Tots.
Ms. Phillips is proud of her heritage; she plays the Indian flute as well as the clarinet. Her deep-rooted faith in God allows her to maintain the strength and compassion needed to be the outstanding social worker she is. As a cancer survivor, she knows what it is like to be sick and scared. She uses her experience to comfort others in their time of need.
A resident of Stone County since 1989, she was excited to join our team and serve this community. Ms. Phillips says the best part of her job is when she is able to give comfort to a resident and enable them to find their own peace. She enjoys learning and growing from their experiences.
Whether assisting with the initial adjustment of admission, keeping families informed, assisting with discharge planning, praying with them for comfort or just providing a listening ear, she is there. Ms. Phillips truly provides our residents with a social service, beyond just social work.
