Exceptional Care That Transforms.

Memorial Celebrates National Donate Life Month

GULFPORT, Miss. —The Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA) will be on-site at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport on Wednesday, April 24, 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., in the Parking Garage Atrium, to promote the importance of organ and tissue donation and to register donors.

There are more than 115,000 people in America waiting for organ transplants. Another name is added to the national transplant waiting list every 10 minutes. In addition, each year hundreds of thousands of people benefit from donated tissue and corneal grafts that are used for life-saving, sight restoring and reconstructive purposes.

Organ and Tissue donation facts:

  • Anyone can be a potential donor regardless of age, race, or medical history.
  • All major religions support organ, tissue, and eye donation and see it as a final act of love and generosity toward others.
  • In the United States, it is illegal to buy or sell organs and tissue for transplantation.

Please stop by the event for more information or to enroll in the Mississippi Donor Registry. For more information call 896-5224. Donors may also register online at donatelifems.org.
