Universal Health Services, Inc. Announces the Acquisition of Memorial Behavioral Health

GULFPORT, Miss. – Universal Health Services, Inc. (NYSE:UHS) and Memorial Hospital at Gulfport announce the sale of Memorial Behavioral Health (MBH) and expect to complete the transaction in the first quarter of 2018. MBH operates a 109-bed behavioral health facility for adults, adolescents and children, along with two outpatient clinics in Gulfport, Miss. 

MBH offers a full continuum of professional services to help individuals and their families resolve and manage emotional and behavioral problems. MBH provides inpatient and partial hospitalization, as well as individual, marital and family therapy on an outpatient basis. The 24-hour professional assessment team (PAT) is available 365 days a year. MBH was the first in Mississippi to offer Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation therapy (TMS), a non-invasive medical alternative shown to work in patients who do not benefit from medications or who cannot tolerate their side effects.

UHS has a successful track record with similar partnerships and is committed to working with Memorial Hospital at Gulfport (MHG) to ensure a seamless transition. The two organizations will also work together to integrate behavioral health services into MHG’s continuum of care by providing consultation services to patients via its medical and surgical floors.
