Memorial Hospital and American Heart Association Celebrate Little Hats, Big Hearts

GULFPORT, Miss. —Volunteers from a local knitting and crocheting club celebrated American Heart Month by donating 140 crocheted red hats for babies born in February at Memorial.

Memorial was the first hospital in Mississippi to participate in the American Heart Association Little Hats, Big Hearts campaign. The Little Hats, Big Hearts campaign started in February 2014 in Chicago, Illinois, to raise awareness of heart disease and congenital heart defects, the most common type of birth defect in the country. The program has expanded to over 33 states.
