Central Mississippi Steel Magnolias Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Donates to Memorial Diagnostic Imaging Services

August 18, 2014 GULFPORT, Miss. — The Memorial Hospital Foundation received a $34,488 in grant funding for the Foundation’s Breast Imaging Special Needs Patient Fund from the Central Mississippi Steel Magnolias Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® on August 4, 2014. The goal of the Foundation’s Breast Imaging Special Needs Patient Fund is to help patients in need of mammograms, MRI’s and ultrasounds. Women or men who are uninsured or underinsured may apply for funding at Memorial Hospital. With this grant, the Foundation will assist approximately 300 special needs patients. Memorial is an accredited facility in mammography and stereotactic breast biopsy by the American College of Radiology. Memorial Hospital Foundation has been a grant recipient of Susan G. Komen since 2006, receiving over $70,000 in funding to support patients in need on the Gulf Coast. The Central Mississippi Steel Magnolias’ service area includes 59 counties in Mississippi including the Gulf Coast. The Central Mississippi Steel Magnolias Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is proud to be part of the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world. Komen for the Cure® currently serves fifty nine counties in the state of Mississippi and has invested $2.75 million back into their vast service area.
