Memorial offers the only board-certified neurosurgeons on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Their specialty is the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders affecting the nervous system in the brain, spine, spinal cord, central and peripheral nervous system (parts of the nervous system outside the brain and spinal cord), and the cerebrovascular (the brain and its blood vessels) system. The surgical procedures performed by our team of neurosurgeons include some of the most traditional as well as cutting-edge ones in the medical field.

Not all spine surgeries are alike. In fact, there is a type of spine surgery that is minimally invasive—by way of a smaller incision—and offers the same benefits as traditional spine surgery with less potential physical traumas. The neurosurgeon is able to use an endoscope, an illuminated flexible or rigid tubular instrument, to avoid having to retract or move major back muscles, as in open spine surgery.
